Tehran Province
Tehran Province is an administrative province in northern Iran, centered on Tehran, the country's capital and largest city.
Tehran: Tehran is Iran’s capital and largest city, located in the northern part of the country. The provincial capital dominates the province’s population, government, and public identity.
Government of Iran: The Government of Iran is the national system of institutions that exercises executive, legislative, and judicial authority. National institutions concentrated in Tehran make the province Iran’s political center.
Qajar dynasty: The Qajar dynasty ruled Iran from the late eighteenth century until 1925. The Qajars made Tehran Iran’s capital, beginning its ascent as a political center.
Alborz Province: Alborz Province is a province in north-central Iran, west of Tehran Province, with Karaj as its capital. Its separation from Tehran Province reflects the growth of the wider metropolitan region.
Shemiranat County: Shemiranat County is an administrative county in northern Tehran Province, including mountain communities north of Tehran. Its highland districts show how the province extends beyond the dense capital.
