Tippu Tip

Tippu Tip was a Zanzibari trader and political leader who built a commercial empire in Central Africa through ivory trading and the enslavement of people.

Zanzibar: An East African archipelago that became a major center of Indian Ocean trade and a sultanate. Its commercial and political networks supported Tippu Tip’s rise.
