Trajan's Dacian Wars

Two Roman campaigns against Dacia in 101–102 and 105–106, ending in Rome’s conquest and annexation of the kingdom under Emperor Trajan.

Second Battle of Tapae: A major Roman victory over Dacian forces in 101 during Trajan’s first campaign. Its outcome helped force Decebalus to accept peace in 102.
Domitian's Dacian War: Rome’s conflict with Dacia during Emperor Domitian’s reign, culminating in a settlement in 89. The settlement left tensions that Trajan’s first campaign reopened.
Roman Dacia: The Roman province established in conquered Dacia after the campaigns of Trajan. It turned the former kingdom into a lasting imperial territory.

Dacian gold: Gold mined in the Carpathian region of Dacia, especially around the Apuseni Mountains. The province’s mineral wealth strengthened the material rewards of conquest.
Tropaeum Traiani: A Roman victory monument at Adamclisi in modern Romania, erected after the Dacian campaigns. Its battlefield setting commemorates the fighting in Moesia during the first war.
Trajan's Bridge: A stone bridge across the lower Danube built by Apollodorus of Damascus for Trajan. It enabled Roman forces to cross the Danube during the second campaign.
Decebalus: The last king of Dacia, who fought Rome under Domitian and Trajan. His kingdom emerged from the earlier Roman settlement stronger and still independent.
