Treaty of Apamea

The 188 BCE settlement between Rome and the Seleucid Empire that ended the Roman–Seleucid War, stripped Antiochus III of territory in Asia Minor, and imposed military and financial terms.

Roman–Seleucid War: A war fought from 192 to 188 BCE between the Roman Republic and the Seleucid Empire, ending in Roman victory. The treaty formalized the defeat that concluded this war.
Antiochus III: A Seleucid king who ruled from 222 to 187 BCE and expanded his empire across much of western Asia. His defeat and obligations formed the treaty’s central terms.
Battle of Magnesia: A decisive 190 BCE battle in which Roman and Pergamene forces defeated Antiochus III near Magnesia in Asia Minor. The defeat forced Antiochus to accept peace on Roman terms.
