Two-Nation Theory

The political doctrine that Hindus and Muslims in pre-partition India constituted distinct nations, used to argue for a separate Muslim homeland that became Pakistan.

Aligarh Movement: A nineteenth-century reform movement that promoted modern education among Indian Muslims and shaped Muslim political thought. Its educational and political legacy helped form the community-conscious politics behind the doctrine.
