Vespasian

Vespasian was Roman emperor from 69 to 79 CE, founder of the Flavian dynasty and initiator of the Colosseum’s construction.

Year of the Four Emperors: The Roman civil war of 69 CE in which four men successively claimed the imperial throne. Vespasian emerged victorious after the succession crisis that followed Nero’s death.
Lex de imperio Vespasiani: A Roman law granting Vespasian imperial powers and specifying his legal authority. It gave formal legal footing to a ruler whose accession came through civil war.
Titus: Roman emperor from 79 to 81 CE and elder son of Vespasian. He commanded forces in Judea, shared Vespasian’s triumph, and succeeded him as emperor.
