Visual field test

A visual field test measures how much of the surrounding scene a person can see while looking at a fixed point. It maps sensitivity across central and peripheral vision, helping detect and monitor blind spots.

Automated perimetry: A computer-controlled visual field test that presents light targets at selected locations and records responses. It maps sensitivity point by point using standardized target presentation.
Glaucoma: A group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve, often causing progressive vision loss. Visual field testing can reveal characteristic defects and monitor progression.

Electroretinography: A test that records the electrical responses of the retina to light. It measures retinal function directly, unlike a behavioral field test.
Learning effect: Improved performance on repeated testing as a person becomes familiar with the procedure. Early field results may differ from later ones as test familiarity increases.
