Voice of America

Voice of America (VOA) is a United States government-funded international broadcaster established in 1942. It produces news and information for audiences outside the United States under a legally defined editorial charter.

United States Agency for Global Media: The independent U.S. federal agency that oversees several government-funded international broadcasters. USAGM currently oversees VOA and provides its institutional framework.
World War II: A global war fought from 1939 to 1945 between the Axis powers and the Allies. The war prompted the U.S. government to create an overseas radio service in 1942.
