War of the Mantuan Succession

A conflict fought from 1628 to 1631 over control of the Duchy of Mantua and the Marquisate of Montferrat. It drew France and the Habsburg powers into the wider Thirty Years’ War.

War of the Monferrato Succession: A 1613–1617 conflict over the succession to the Marquisate of Montferrat. An earlier struggle over Montferrat foreshadowed the later contest for the same territory.
