Władysław II Jagiełło

Władysław II Jagiełło was grand duke of Lithuania and king of Poland from 1386 until his death in 1434. His marriage to Jadwiga of Poland united the Polish and Lithuanian dynasties and began the Jagiellonian dynasty.

Algirdas: A grand duke of Lithuania who ruled from 1345 to 1377 and expanded the state eastward. Jagiełło inherited the Lithuanian throne as Algirdas’s son.
Christianization of Lithuania: The adoption of Roman Catholic Christianity by Lithuania’s ruling dynasty and much of its population, beginning in 1387. Jagiełło’s baptism and mission helped fulfill the agreement with Poland.
