Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is a major city in Gujarat, India, founded in 1411 on the Sabarmati River. Its historic architecture, textile industry, and economic influence have shaped the region.

Anasuya Sarabhai: An Ahmedabad social reformer who organized textile workers and founded the Majoor Mahajan Sangh union. Her labor organizing helped shape the city’s textile-worker movement.
Gandhinagar: The capital city of Gujarat, planned and built north of Ahmedabad. Its proximity makes it part of Ahmedabad’s expanding metropolitan region.
