Aten

Aten is the visible solar disk worshipped as a deity in ancient Egypt, especially during Akhenaten’s reign. In Atenist art, rays extending from the disk end in hands that offer life to the royal family.

Akhenaten: An Egyptian pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty who promoted the worship of Aten and founded a new capital at Amarna. His rule made Aten the focus of royal religion and state-sponsored worship.
Ra: An ancient Egyptian sun god, associated with creation and kingship. Aten’s solar identity drew on traditions associated with Ra.
