Battle of Lepanto

The Battle of Lepanto was a major naval battle fought on 7 October 1571 in the Gulf of Patras, where the Holy League defeated the Ottoman fleet.

Holy League: A coalition of Catholic states formed in 1571 to oppose Ottoman power in the Mediterranean. Its combined fleet fought under Don John of Austria at Lepanto.
