Belgian Congo

A Belgian colony in Central Africa from 1908 to 1960, occupying most of the territory that became the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Congo Free State: A personal colony of King Leopold II from 1885 to 1908, preceding Belgian colonial rule in the Congo. Its abuses prompted international pressure that transferred the territory to the Belgian state.
