Bengal Sultanate

The Bengal Sultanate was an independent Muslim-ruled kingdom in Bengal from the fourteenth to the sixteenth century, governed by a succession of dynasties and centered on a network of regional capitals.

Delhi Sultanate: A series of Muslim-ruled dynasties that governed much of the Indian subcontinent from Delhi between 1206 and 1526. Bengal’s rulers gained independence as Delhi’s control over the region weakened.
Gaur: A historic city in Bengal that served as a major capital under several medieval dynasties. Its monumental remains show how the sultans projected power from a principal capital.
