Boeotian League

The Boeotian League was a federation of communities in central Greece whose institutions and influence were often dominated by Thebes.

Boeotarch: A senior military and political official of the Boeotian League. Boeotarchs led the federation’s forces and represented its central authority.
Boeotia: A region of central Greece north of Attica, containing Thebes and several other ancient communities. The federation drew its members from this shared geographical region.
Battle of Delium: A battle in 424 BCE in which Boeotian forces defeated an Athenian invasion near Delium. The victory demonstrated the league’s battlefield strength during the Peloponnesian War.
