China–North Korea relations

China–North Korea relations are the diplomatic, economic, and security ties between the People’s Republic of China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

China–North Korea Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance: A 1961 treaty that formalized friendship and included a mutual-assistance commitment between China and North Korea. Its security pledge is the formal foundation of their alliance, though its practical meaning is debated.
