John Steinbeck

John Steinbeck was an American novelist and short-story writer whose fiction often portrayed working people, economic hardship, and life in California. His works include The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men.

The Grapes of Wrath: John Steinbeck’s 1939 novel follows the Joad family’s migration from Oklahoma to California during the Great Depression. This novel became Steinbeck’s best-known account of displacement, poverty, and migrant labor.
