Parody mass

A Renaissance setting of the Mass Ordinary that adapts multiple elements from a pre-existing polyphonic composition, usually a motet or chanson.

Parody technique: A compositional practice that transforms material from an existing work into a new composition. The mass’s defining method is to adapt several features of an earlier polyphonic work.
