Shuri Castle

Shuri Castle is a royal castle in Okinawa that served as the political and ceremonial center of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Its architecture and rituals reflect the kingdom’s connections with Japan and China.

Seiden (Shuri Castle): The principal hall of Shuri Castle, used for royal ceremonies and state affairs. This central hall concentrated the castle’s ceremonial and political functions.
Ryukyu Kingdom: An independent kingdom centered on Okinawa that maintained relations with China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Shuri was the kingdom’s royal seat and center of government.
Shurijo Castle Park: A public park and heritage complex encompassing Shuri Castle and related historic sites in Naha. The park manages public access and preservation around the castle.
