Vladimir-Suzdal

Vladimir-Suzdal was a medieval East Slavic principality in northeastern Rus’, centered successively on Rostov, Suzdal, and Vladimir. Its political and cultural legacy contributed to the rise of Muscovy.

Kievan Rus’: A medieval East Slavic polity whose political center was Kyiv and whose lands included much of modern Ukraine, Belarus, and western Russia. Vladimir-Suzdal emerged as a northeastern regional power within the wider Rus’ political world.
Grand Prince of Vladimir: The title held by the leading ruler of northeastern Rus’ after Vladimir became its dominant political center. The title expressed the primacy that Vladimir-Suzdal attained among northeastern principalities.
